If you are laid off recently, it’s a brilliant way to spend time away from work.

Internships
Internships allow you to observe and perform duties of real work you want, as a regular employee. Companies typically provide students with more support and advice during training and can also help you land a full time job at the end of the course. You can even find a mentor who can support your career choices and goals.

These programs offer a combination of academic training, structured training and paid work, usually 1-2 years. These programs are offered by employers, in cooperation with the Department of Labor and your state Department of Education.

Job Shadowing
This is when a day (or part of a day), spend time with someone in a career that you are interested to work. They follow that person through the work day and see what his / her duties and responsibilities for the position, experience the world of work and interaction with other people currently working in your professional potential required. At the appropriate time during the day, to ask questions about the work and make a list of possible questions in advance at the same time taking account of other issues that arise during the course of the day. Twinning can give you a complete picture of a job or career, but at least gives you an overview.

Volunteer
Volunteering is a great way to experience many careers. Volunteer work is available everywhere: businesses, hospitals, schools, authorities and agencies and nonprofit organizations. In some cases you may be the job you want. For jobs that require more education or training, ask the supervisor, in a job that exposes you always connected to your professional interests of space. Check your library and opportunities in your local newspaper.

Part time jobs
The work teaches you a lot about your interests and helps develop skills for many careers, and earn some money for school and living expenses. Many part-time jobs do not need much practice and skill to get started. Part time is usually regarded anything less than 40 hours per week.
